										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Award-winning Indigenous Australian Film Maker Darlene Johnson will visit Myanmar in November to engage with local filmmakers and share her experience in the film industry. Darlene is an Indigenous Australian of the east-coast Dunghutti people of NSW. Darlene’s visit will celebrate the <a href="https://flickerfest.com.au/entries-asean/">FLiCKERFEST ASEAN 2020 Film Competition</a>, which is open to filmmakers from across the ASEAN region. Participants will have the opportunity to view past FLiCKERFEST Competition entries and learn more about Indigenous film initiatives in Australia with first hand insights from Darlene.</p>
<p>Darlene will also be Australia’s international delegate to the 2019 MEMORY! International Film Heritage Festival &#8211; 15 to 24 November. The festival focuses on global and regional cinema &amp; cinema heritage and is unique to Southeast Asia. Festival audiences will be treated to Darlene Johnson presenting her award-winning film ‘Bluey’ and they will be able to join panel discussions on this year’s festival theme which celebrates diversity &#8211; ‘Life Together’.</p>
<p>While in Myanmar, Darlene will also engage audiences with a story based workshop for a select group of young and emerging film makers as part of the Myanmar Script Fund, an annual scriptwriting workshop and competition, associated with the Myanmar MEMORY! Film Festival.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Highly acclaimed Australian film maker Shelly Lauman will be in town for the Australia now FLiCKERFEST Festival on 1 November.  The Australian Embassy in Vietnam is delighted to host Shelly who will participate in workshops and engage audiences with a Q&amp;A after a special screening of her latest work Birdie which received an Australian Director’s Guild / Metro Screen Production Fellowship.  Birdie premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival and then screened internationally at the Toronto International Film Festival and in competition at FLiCKERFEST 2019.  Birdie has also been acquired by Fox Searchlight Pictures, a first for the studio, with Shelly being nominated by the Australian Directors’ Guild for Best Direction in a Short Film for Birdie.  Gender, body, and voicelessness are the main themes of Shelly Lauman’s work.</p>
<p>The film festival forms part of the Embassy’s Gender Month activities and includes screening of a selection of female-directed short films.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://socialgoodoutpost.com/australia-now/">Youth Entrepreneurs &amp; Leaders Speaker Series</a> is designed to showcase, inspire, celebrate and connect young entrepreneurs and leaders that are making a difference to their societies across Australia and Southeast Asia.</p>
<p>Curated by the <a href="https://socialgoodoutpost.com/">Social Good Outpost</a>, this program brings award-winning youth entrepreneurs and leaders from Australia to collaborate and engage across ASEAN around topics of social entrepreneurship, startups, gender equality, environmental issues and sustainability, and social issues and human rights.</p>
<p>Felicity Furey, multi-award-winning engineer, inclusion expert and gender equality advocate, will be the keynote speaker leading a multi-day program to engage students, NGOs and community partners around future focused leadership and inclusion. Felicity will be joined by Speaker Series Curator, Elise Stephenson, to run capacity-building workshops around gender, sexuality and inclusion for leading international NGOs, as well as empowering sessions on innovative communication and advocacy for young alumni and volunteers. In-country partners include: Vietnam National University &#8211; University of Technology, University of Science, RMIT, Vietnam Women&#8217;s Museum, Consulate-General&#8217;s Gender Conference 2019, UNFPA, CARE, PLAN, iSEE, GBVnet, CSAGA, Australian Volunteers, and more.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Award-winning Australian producer Samantha Laidlaw will visit Brunei this September to engage with local filmmakers and share her experience in the film industry. Her visit will also promote the <a href="https://flickerfest.com.au/entries-asean/">FLiCKERFEST ASEAN 2020 Film Competition</a> which is open to filmmakers from across ASEAN. Samantha was a <a href="https://flickerfest.com.au/programme/best-of-australian-6-2017/">FLiCKERFEST 2017 finalist</a> with her short film, The Boggabilla Bus.</p>
<p>Hosted at the Mahakarya Institute of Arts Asia (MIAA), Samantha will be speak to media and film students from various secondary schools as well as independent filmmakers. Participants will have the opportunity to view past entries into the FLiCKERFEST Competition and share their locally made films with Samantha.</p>
<p>MIAA, which has an MOU with TAFE QLD, is Brunei’s first dedicated arts education institution which focuses on providing the knowledge, skills and understanding of content creators to establish a sustainable ecosystem for filmmaking and creative content in Brunei.</p>

Kirli is a proud Gunai woman, with ties to the Yuin, Gundungurra, Gadigal and Biripi people.  She is an international children’s author, poet, emerging playwright and artist &#8211; and also manages <a href="https://redroomcompany.org/projects/poetry-first-languages/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Poetry in First Languages </a>and Poetic Learning at Red Room Poetry.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="margin: 0px; color: black; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;">The Youth Entrepreneurs &amp; Leaders Speaker Series is designed to showcase, inspire, celebrate and connect young entrepreneurs and leaders that are making a difference to their societies across Australia and Southeast Asia.</span></p>
<p><span style="margin: 0px; color: black; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; font-size: 10.5pt;">Curated by the <a href="https://socialgoodoutpost.com/">Social Good Outpost</a>, this program brings award-winning youth entrepreneurs and leaders from Australia to collaborate and engage across ASEAN around topics of social entrepreneurship, startups, gender equality, environmental issues and sustainability, and social issues and human rights. Dr Cameron Cliff will be presenting at the Lao HR Forum on the 20th of July, to kick off this series of events being run over 18 months. </span></p>

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yolngu">Yolngu</a> man, he sings in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gupapuyngu_language">Gupapuyngu language</a>.</span></p>
