Hurry – Announcing an iSAY competition extension!

Running with this year’s Australia now spotlight on all things youth – the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has launched the inaugural iSAY Competition 2019. Students are invited to write an essay of up to 1500 words on trade with ASEAN for their chance to win a trip to an Australia now event in an ASEAN country in 2019, showcase their ideas at the Diplomatic Academy in Canberra and have their essay published in DFAT’s Business Envoy magazine. There are 3 categories this year, and they are open to undergrad university students in Australia and the ASEAN region, and year 11 & 12 high school students. The competition has now been extended – and will close on July 12th.
Categories
Australian high school student category
- Open to students enrolled in years 11 and 12 at an Australian high school.
Australian university student category
- Open to undergraduates at any accredited university in Australia.
ASEAN university student category
- Open to undergraduate students of universities in any ASEAN member country.

The author of the winning essay in each category will become a special guest contributor to DFAT’s Business Envoy magazine, with their winning entry published in a future edition.
Australian university undergraduate student category
The three Australian university undergraduate student category finalists (the author of the winning essay and two runners-up) will receive return flights to Canberra and accommodation to present their ideas at a Youth Forum at DFAT’s Diplomatic Academy on Monday 12 August 2019.
In addition, the top-placed Australian university undergraduate entrant (the author of the winning essay) will receive return flights and accommodation to attend an Australia now event in an ASEAN country nominated by DFAT!
ASEAN university undergraduate student category
The two ASEAN university undergraduate student category finalists (the author of the winning essay and one runner-up) will receive return flights to Canberra and accommodation to present their ideas at a Youth Forum at DFAT’s Diplomatic Academy on Monday 12 August 2019.
