Australia and Thailand are close, long-standing partners in the same region. Thailand’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2019 is an opportunity to further highlight and strengthen these ties.

Thailand is a key country in our region, the second largest economy in ASEAN and a major transport, financial and tourism hub.

Australia now, with a focus on Thailand as ASEAN chair, is a major platform for enhanced cultural, education and business exchange, which both acknowledges the strength of our historical ties, and points to a bright future for both countries in the world’s most dynamic region.
