Welcome to the Australia now ASEAN 2019 website from the region’s powerhouse, Indonesia.

By far the largest country in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is central to ASEAN’s future and the future of the Indo-Pacific region.

With a population of more than 260 million people, Indonesia is the world’s fourth largest country, has the largest Muslim population of any country and is the third largest democracy. It is home to 42 per cent of the region’s population and is the largest economy in ASEAN, sitting at the axis of the Indo-Pacific region.

Australia and Indonesia share a partnership that is central for us both as our region experiences such fast and unparalleled change. As next door neighbours, we face the same challenges and opportunities. Our two countries respect and support each other and we share high hopes for our relationship and cooperation in the years ahead.

ASEAN is central to our shared future as regional partners and the key to a stronger and more prosperous region for all of us will be the connections our people make through shared experiences.

Australia now ASEAN 2019 provides an opportunity for us to collaborate and exchange with people from all ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, to form new connections that bring us closer together.
